Reishi has for many years been a staple in eastern medicine. The mushroom is also referred to as Lingzhi and Ganoderma lucidum. It is a fungus that grows in humid parts of Asia.
The Reishi mushroom has many health benefits, such as boosting your immune system. Studies show that the fungus can increase the activity of a type of white blood cell called natural killer cells that fight infections. It can also improve lymphocyte function for people in stressful conditions. Reishi can also aid with fatigue and anxiety in people with illnesses.
The fungus is also being studied regarding its ability to lower high cholesterol, lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, increase stamina, and aid cancer patients (specifically prostate cancer).
